TurkicLex exists to make Turkic languages accessible to everyone — learners, researchers, translators, and native speakers. We aim to build the most accurate, inclusive, and well-organised free dictionary for the Turkic language family, covering Turkish, Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Turkmen, Tatar, Uyghur, and Bashkir.

TurkicLex content comes from three sources:

• Community contributions — registered users submit translations, example sentences, and dialect notes. All contributions are attributed to the contributor's public profile.
• AI-assisted generation — for words not yet covered by the community, we use AI models (Google Gemini, OpenAI) to generate a first-draft translation and example sentences. These are clearly labelled with an "AI-generated" badge and are subject to community review.
• Editorial team additions — core vocabulary and high-frequency words are seeded and reviewed by our volunteer editorial team before publication.

We take translation accuracy seriously:

• Verification badges — translations reviewed and approved by a moderator carry a verified checkmark. Unverified translations are still shown but are clearly distinguished.
• Multiple translations — many words have several valid translations across dialects or contexts. We show all of them ranked by community upvotes, so users see the most widely accepted option first.
• Dialect notes — contributors can attach dialect or register notes (e.g. "formal", "colloquial", "Kazakh dialect") to help users pick the right word.
• Error reporting — every page has a report button. Flagged content is reviewed by moderators within 72 hours. Incorrect content is corrected or removed.

We believe in being transparent about AI involvement. Any translation, example sentence, or blog post generated by AI is marked with a visible label. We use AI to extend coverage, not to replace human knowledge. AI-generated content is treated as a starting point and is improved over time by the community.

Our blog posts labelled "AI-generated" are reviewed for factual accuracy before publication but should be read as supplementary guides, not authoritative linguistic references.

TurkicLex is moderated by a volunteer team of language experts and fluent speakers. Moderators can verify translations, remove spam, and suspend accounts. Moderation decisions can be appealed by emailing contact@turkiclex.com.

TurkicLex does not take political positions on disputed linguistic questions (such as debates about language classification or script choices). We cover all major scripts used by Turkic languages — Latin, Cyrillic, and Uyghur Arabic — and our Script Converter tool lets users switch between them.

We welcome contributions from all linguistic backgrounds and do not privilege any single dialect or national standard over others.
