Allgemeine Geschäftsbedingungen (AGB)
Last updated: April 2026
1. Operator and Scope
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of TurkicLex ("the Service"), a community-driven Turkic-languages dictionary operated by:
BriefWizard (Aliniyaz Mamat)
Gustav-Heinemann-Ring 131
81739 München, Germany
Email: kontakt@briefwizard.de
By accessing or using TurkicLex you agree to these Terms in full. If you do not agree, please stop using the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, registered users, and contributors.
2. Description of Service
TurkicLex provides a freely accessible, community-contributed English-to-Turkic-languages dictionary covering nine languages: Turkish, Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Turkmen, Tatar, Uyghur, and Yakut (Sakha). The Service includes translations, example sentences, phonetic transcriptions, script conversion, topic-based learning tools, and a community blog.
Parts of the dictionary content are generated or enriched with the assistance of AI tools (OpenAI, Google Gemini) and are clearly labelled as such. AI-generated content is reviewed for quality but may contain errors; do not rely on it for critical or professional purposes.
3. User Accounts
Contributing content requires a free account. By registering you confirm that:
- You are at least 16 years old.
- The registration information you provide is accurate and complete.
- You will keep your login credentials secure and not share them with others.
- You are responsible for all activity that takes place under your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate accounts that violate these Terms, without prior notice in cases of serious or repeated violations.
4. Contributed Content
When you submit a translation, example sentence, comment, rating, or other content ("Contribution"), you represent that:
- You have the right to submit the Contribution.
- The Contribution does not infringe any third party's intellectual property rights.
- The Contribution is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
By submitting a Contribution, you grant TurkicLex a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to store, display, distribute, and adapt the Contribution as part of the dictionary. You retain copyright in your original Contributions. Your username will be publicly attributed to your Contributions.
You agree not to submit content that is:
- Deliberately inaccurate, misleading, or fabricated
- Hateful, harassing, threatening, or discriminatory
- Spam, unsolicited advertising, or off-topic material
- In violation of any applicable law or third-party rights
- Submitted via automated bots or scripts without prior written permission
5. Intellectual Property
The TurkicLex name, logo, and site design are the property of BriefWizard. The dictionary database is made available under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence for non-commercial use. Attribution to "TurkicLex (turkiclex.com)" is required when reproducing or building on the data.
Commercial use of the dictionary data — including resale, repackaging, or integration into commercial products — requires a separate written licence. Please contact us to discuss terms.
6. Prohibited Uses
In addition to the content restrictions in Section 4, you may not:
- Scrape or mass-download content without prior written permission
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system, database, or account
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Use the Service to distribute malware or conduct phishing attacks
- Circumvent any rate-limiting, authentication, or access-control measures
If you need bulk data access for research or educational purposes, please contact us to discuss an API arrangement.
7. Moderation
Contributions are subject to community moderation and editorial review by volunteer moderators and the TurkicLex team. We reserve the right to edit, hide, or delete any Contribution that violates these Terms or our editorial standards, without prior notice or obligation to explain our decision.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. In particular:
- We do not warrant that dictionary content is accurate, complete, or up to date. Community-contributed and AI-generated translations may contain errors.
- We do not warrant that the Service will be available without interruption or error.
- Translations provided on TurkicLex are for reference and learning purposes only. Verify translations with a qualified professional before using them for legal, medical, or other critical purposes.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BriefWizard shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service or any content on it — including but not limited to damages for loss of data, loss of profit, or business interruption.
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, as required by German law.
10. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding its conflict-of-law provisions. Place of jurisdiction for disputes with commercial users (Kaufleute) is München, Germany. Consumer rights under mandatory EU consumer protection law are not affected.
The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution (ODR) platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obliged or willing to participate in dispute resolution before a consumer arbitration board.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top. For material changes we will display a notice on the site. Continued use of TurkicLex after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to revised Terms, please stop using the Service and delete your account.
12. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. The invalid provision will be replaced with a valid provision that most closely achieves the original intent.
